Edghill Linked - Ipswich Town News

Released QPR defender Richard Edghill is the latest player mentioned as a possible Town full-back target. The 30-year-old played for Joe Royle at Manchester City where he spent the first ten years of his career.

Edghill, a former City captain and England U21 international, left Maine Road in 2002, having gone out on loan at Birmingham City in 2000.

Primarily a right-back but an occasional left-sided defender, Edghill's career stagnated for much of 2002/03 before he signed at Wigan. However, he failed to make a senior appearance for the Latics and left at the end of the season.

That summer the Oldham-born player joined Sheffield United but again failed to settle, playing only one game, and moved on to QPR where he made 29 appearances in two seasons before being released this summer.

Edghill recently spent time on trial at Derby but failed to win a contract at Pride Park.
