Bowden at Trust Meeting - Ipswich Town News

Club chief executive Derek Bowden will answer questions from supporters at a meeting organised by Ipswich Town Ist, the Supporters' Trust, on Monday, September 5th.

Trust chairman Carl Day says the aim of the meeting is to give fans an opportunity to raise issues which have concerned them over the summer with the man running Ipswich Town: "Inevitably, when so many players leave in such a short space of time, supporters start asking questions: Why weren't Tommy Miller and Shefki Kuqi on longer contracts? Was any attempt made to persuade Darren Bent and Kelvin Davis to sign longer deals? Why has so little of the money from the Bent and Davis transfers been spent on new players?

"These are all questions which have been asked on newspaper letters pages, on Internet message boards and in Suffolk pubs throughout the summer.

"The club's overall debt, the CVA and other financial commitments, for example the bond which financed the building of the new stands, are also areas which some supporters feel need clarification, particularly in the light of the recent redundancies.

"This meeting is the time for fans to raise these issues with Derek Bowden and all credit to him for agreeing to take part, something we're aware many other chief executives would not do.

"Ideally, we would have preferred to have held the meeting earlier, however we fully understand the club's reasoning in not wanting to discuss potentially sensitive commercial issues while the transfer window is open."

A number of written questions will be given to the chief executive in advance of the meeting but Bowden will also answer queries from the floor.

The meeting, which will be held at the Galleria at Portman Road with a 7.30pm start, is restricted to Trust members at the club's request, with tickets available for free.

Fans can book their tickets by calling Carl Day on 07739 214540 or Colin Kreidewolf on 07766 231967, or by emailing Carl Day.

You can join the Trust via the Ipswich Town Ist website. A year's membership costs £10, while an introductory six-month membership is £5.
