Willie Pleased With Duo - Ipswich Town News

Assistant manager Willie Donachie says he has been impressed with the way new strike pairing Nicky Forster and Sam Parkin are starting to settle into the life at Portman Road. Forster has scored three times in pre-season, while Parkin is yet to get off the mark.

Donachie told the club site: "They are both learning about us and the standards we expect at this club.

"It's going to take time for them to settle in but they are getting there and, from what we have seen so far, there are plenty of encouraging signs.

"They are both good players and good people who want to do well in the game and for Ipswich Town.

"They have worked hard in training and in the matches and there is plenty to be positive about."

Skipper Jim Magilton says that youngsters Owen Garvan, Aidan Collins, Shane Supple, Chris Casement, Liam Trotter and Dean McDonald will have benefited from going on the pre-season tour: "The young players will have gained a lot from being away on the trip.

"It gets them used to what life is like as a professional footballer on the whole. It will help them bed in with the rest of the squad.

"Making that step up to the first team is always an important stage in any young player's career and the boys have handled the situation well while we have been away.

"They have trained very hard and they will be all the better for the experience of the stay in Hungary.

"The boys have all shown a great temperament, are all looking forward to the new season and can have a big part to play in the future of this football club."
