Acclaim for TWTD - Ipswich Town News

TWTD has been named as one of the 12 best football fanzines in the country by the Independent newspaper. TWTD also received its first tribute from the art world recently when the Tommy Miller issue from the end of last season was included in an exhibition at the Barbican.

The Independent praised TWTD's "innovative front covers” and the diversity of contributions which, they said, helps avoid the cliquey feel of some other fanzines.

TWTD also appeared in Folk Archive: Contemporary Popular Art from the UK, a recent exhibition at the Barbican organised by Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller and Alan Kane.

The exhibition is described as "a vibrant, visual account of contemporary folk art and creativity in the UK.

"Celebrating folk art's dynamic and influential role in British society, the exhibition features an astonishing range of work, from needlework to a mechanical elephant, as well as documentation of events, drawings and paintings, many with a narrative or commemorative element.”

We're now setting our sights on the Turner Prize itself and a new version of the Town badge featuring a Suffolk Punch sawn in half and suspended in a vat of formaldehyde is well on the way to completion.

The exhibition at the Barbican ended last week but is going on tour: Milton Keynes Gallery 2 Aug-18 Sept, Spacex Gallery Exeter 1 Oct-26 Nov, Kunsthalle Basel Switzerland, 1 Oct-13 Nov, The New Art Gallery Walsall 10 Feb-23 Apr 2006, Aberystwyth Arts Centre 3 June-15 July 06, The Lowry Salford, 22 July-17 Sep 06.
