Price Set for Wales Debut - Ipswich Town News

Wales manager John Toshack has hinted that Town keeper Lewis Price could win his first full international cap when the Welsh face Slovenia in a friendly in Swansea next week. Price, who has won six U21 caps, has previously been named in the senior squad but is yet to make his debut.

The goalkeeping position is a problem for the new Wales manager with Mark Crossley having retired from international football, Paul Jones injured and Danny Coyne not playing first team football at Burnley.

Toshack says he is keen to have a look at the 21-year-old Town keeper: "I'll pick Lewis because I want to have a good first-hand look at him.

"He's a very promising player who is still very young for a goalkeeper and is developing all the time.

"The goalkeeper is a very important position and it's one I must address. The problem I have is that when I picked my last squad for the double-header against Austria in March I didn't have a keeper playing regular first team football. That was a real concern for me.

"But after speaking to my youth coach, Brian Flynn, I've decided I want to assess Lewis's qualities further. If all goes well then hopefully I can see him in a game situation."

Toshack is due to name his squad on Wednesday.
