Town Confirm Lazio Game - Ipswich Town News
Town have confirmed that they will play the first of two friendlies with Lazio during next summer's pre-season. The Rome side had stalled on playing the two matches which were agreed when Matteo Sereni joined them from Town in the summer of 2003.
The first game has finally been arranged for July 28th, 2006. Town had tried to organise the game for the last two summers but the Italian side were uncooperative.
TWTD reported in June that the club had enlisted the help of FIFA to try to secure compensation from Lazio for the unplayed friendlies. That threat appears to have persuaded the Serie A side to commit to the first of the two matches.
Sereni had been expected to leave Lazio for Palermo this summer but has now committed to stay with the Biancocelesti.
