Yeovil Boss on Cup Tie - Ipswich Town News

Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson says his entire side need to be on top form if they are going to knock the Blues out of the Carling Cup on Tuesday (KO 7.45pm). Johnson hopes a good result will instil confidence in his side who have made a stuttering start to their league campaign.

The former Cambridge United boss said: "The game with Ipswich will be a totally different game to the league matches we have had recently and it's a game the lads can go out and enjoy. Obviously there is pressure to win the game, but it's one to look forward to where you are not expected to win the game.

"The boys can relax, get their game going and get some confidence for the Swindon and Chesterfield games.

"We don't want to get outpassed by Ipswich because that is our style and we want to get our passing game going. There is a game there to be won and if we can win it the boost in confidence will be just what we need.

"It's a one-off game that has to be won on the night so there will be no replay and we will have extra time and penalties if needed.

"We have still got a couple of niggly injury problems that we have to get over but I won't know about those until Tuesday morning.

"Luciano Alvarez's international clearance has not come through yet but I expect it will have come through by Tuesday morning which may give me an option.

"The very nature of the game is our best chance of beating Ipswich and we have got to believe that our players are as good as their players because we are aiming for The Championship as well.

"The boys have got to go out and show their best, but not just one or two of them, but all eleven showing their strengths. If they do that then we have the ammunition to cause them a problem.

"I am sure they will know that and will not leave anything to chance. Both teams will want to win this so it should be a good game."

The Glovers are likely to play both recently signed Argentinians if Alvarez's clearance comes through in time, fellow striker Pablo Bastianini having made his debut in the defeat at Barnsley on Saturday.

Midfielder David Poole missed the game at Oakwell after failing a fitness test but may be back in contention to face Town.

Tuesday's referee is Andy Woolmer from Northamptonshire who has shown seven yellow cards and one red in his three games so far this season. Woolmer is in his second season as a league official and has not previously refereed the Blues.

The draw for round two takes place live on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports One at around 12.10pm.
