Boss Joe Royle has confirmed the club will be appealing against Richard Naylor's red card at Millwall. The Town manager says he was confident his side would beat the Lions even after referee Mark Halsey had given Naylor his marching orders for denying Barry Hayles an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
Royle said: "We have looked at the video and we will be making an appeal. I have told the referee and a report will be sent to the FA for Monday.
"I expect they will look at the video next week but, all being well, we should have Bam Bam available for the Preston game.
"Richard is swearing that he has not touched Barry Hayles and he has not put his hands on him."
Naylor protested his innocence after the game: "There was no contact. I think the referee has agreed to look at the incident on tape and hopefully it will be rescinded."
Royle was pleased with his side's performance and picked out Darren Currie as the main danger man: "I thought we played very well and even with 10 men we looked most likely to score. Darren Currie had his best game for a long time.
"Ben May's goal was one where you have to hold your hands up and say that you cannot deal with it. It was a wonder goal but we deserved to win. Other than that, they hardly tested our keeper and I was delighted with our performance.
"I felt Millwall's only real threat came at set-plays, so I told the players at half-time to stop giving away silly freekicks and they did that.
"We played the better, more composed football and overall we've had a terrific start with 10 points from 15, and I'm delighted with that."
Royle was less pleased with the reception given to former Blue Andy Marshall: "I was disappointed with our fans' reaction to Marshall. It's the Norwich connection, our fans are normally very fair minded."
Millwall boss Colin Lee defended Marshall whose error gifted the Blues their opening goal: "One thing about Andy he is a fantastic worker and he is a great lad to have around the place. I think this was very much a one-off game for him.
"I feel sorry for him because he worked so hard at his game, he obviously wanted to play well against Ipswich but didn't have the best of games I must admit.
"But he isn't going to take any major flak, because that won't help this situation. We have to encourage what we see as one of our better players.
"It was the basics at defending that let us down, we are just gifting games away, our defending was very naive."
Man-of-the-match Darren Currie had praise for Sam Parkin's courageous winning goal: "You have to hand it to Sam, it was a brave header, especially when you know he's had 20 stitches.
"He caused Millwall problems all game and it's good to have him back in the side."
Currie was pleased with his own opening goal, his first since netting twice at Plymouth on January 3rd: "Willie and the gaffer have been on at me about scoring more goals so it was nice to find the net at last.
"I hit the ball well enough and seem to score regularly in training, but have not been able to take it into matches and that's something that I'm working hard to put right."
