U18s Defeat Liverpool - Ipswich Town News
Town's U18s did their bit towards making it a superb weekend from a footballing and cricketing perspective as they defeated Liverpool 3-2 at the Merseysiders' Kirkby Academy on Saturday morning. The Blues dominated the first half and were two-up at the break but the home side hit back in the second period.
Danny Haynes seized on a defensive error and netted Town's first goal in the sixth minute. Liam Craig netted the second from close range after the Liverpool keeper had dropped a cross when under pressure from Charlie Sheringham.
Sheringham missed a good chance early in the second half just prior to the Reds pulling a goal back when Chris Casement put through his own goal.
Town's third goal of the game also came from Liam Craig, the Scottish U19 international again seizing on an error by the Liverpool keeper and stabbing home from close range.
The Reds scored a deflected second and then pushed unsuccessfully for an equaliser.
