Bent Debut in Belfast? - Ipswich Town News
Town will hope that Darren Bent makes his England bow this evening when Sven-Goran Eriksson's side face Northern Ireland in a World Cup qualifier in Belfast. The Blues will receive a top-up from Charlton - thought to be a six-figure sum - when the striker makes his first appearance in a competitive international.
Bent was on the England bench against Wales on Saturday, leading to speculation that the 21-year-old would have been given a run-out had Eriksson's side been comfortably ahead of the Welsh.
Keeper Lewis Price is the only current Town player away with an international squad. Wales face Poland in Warsaw tonight but Price, currently behind Danny Coyne and Paul Jones in the pecking order, will not feature.
The 21-year-old would have made his full Wales debut in the recent friendly with Slovenia but missed out after injuring his knee for the Blues at Leicester.
