Cardiff Pair Linked - Ipswich Town News
Cardiff strikers Alan Lee and Stuart Fleetwood are the latest players to be mentioned as possible Town loanees. Boss Joe Royle is refusing to comment one way or another on his current targets.
Lee, 27, is a full Ireland international and joined the Bluebirds from Rotherham for £850,000 in August 2003 having been linked with a number of Premiership clubs. This season the 6ft 2in striker has mainly been used as a substitute but manager Dave Jones is reportedly disinclined to allow him to leave.
Fleetwood is a 19-year-old old Wales U21 international who has made only two senior starts for Cardiff plus 10 more appearances as a substitute. The youngster is yet to score a senior goal and, with Royle keen to sign an experienced player, appears unlikely to be a player the Blues are considering with plenty of young strikers already at the club.
Earlier in the month, Cheltenham were interested in signing the 5ft 9in tall frontman on loan.
Royle says he will not comment on the various links: "I'm not going to talk about possible signings any more until it happens."
He also says his trip to the Valley to see Charlton play Hartlepool doesn't signal his intention to sign one of Alan Curbishley's fringe players: "People are reading more into me being there than there is."
