Boss Joe Royle has the rare luxury of being able to field an unchanged side when the Blues travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Tuesday night (KO 7.45pm). The Town squad stayed in the North after Saturday's 2-0 win at Leeds and have been training at Unibond League club Radcliffe Borough.
No new injuries were reported after the game at Elland Road and Royle may stick with the side which won at the weekend. The defence which was so solid in that game is unlikely to be altered despite Fabian Wilnis being available after his groin injury. Central defender Jason De Vos has been named in the Football League's team of the week for his display against the Whites.
The midfield could be changed with Town having three games in eight days. Skipper Jim Magilton often starts one match from the bench when the Blues have a busy schedule and Royle could decide to use one of his three young right-sided wide players. Danny Haynes made his senior debut at Leeds, perhaps surprisingly chosen ahead of Dean McDonald and Jaime Peters.
Up front, Dean Bowditch faces the club he spent time on loan with last season and will hope to score his first goal of the season, alongside Saturday's two-goal hero Sam Parkin.
Town's only injuries remain Nicky Forster who is expected to be back in full training on Thursday and is likely to be available for selection before the end of the month. Midfielder Ian Westlake is a longer term absentee with his ankle injury and may not be back in action before Christmas.
Burnley have a number of injuries including both of their former Town defenders. John McGreal injured his right leg in Saturday's game with Brighton and is a big doubt, while Danny Karbassiyoon, who was on loan with the Blues last season, is out with a groin problem.
The Clarets will also be without keeper Danny Coyne who has a suspected cruciate knee ligament injury which could rule him out for the season. Coyne's long-term absence could be good news for Town keeper Lewis Price's international ambitions with Wales, Coyne having been John Toshack's first choice netminder up to now.
Dane Brian Jensen will take over from Coyne between the sticks for Burnley. Also out of action with a cruciate ligament injury is summer Town target Wayne Thomas.
Tuesday's referee is Mike Pike from Cumbria who has shown 16 yellow and two red cards in eight games this season. Ironically, Pike previously refereed the Blues on their visit to Turf Moor last season when Town won 2-0, Darren Bent scoring both goals.
