Joe on Proudlock - Ipswich Town News

Boss Joe Royle has challenged trialist Adam Proudlock to get fit and win himself a contract at Portman Road. The sacked Sheffield Wednesday striker has joined up with the Town squad today.

Royle told the club site: "Adam will be with us initially for a week but maybe two depending on how it goes.

"I know what the player is but I need to have a long chat with him and find out what the personality is.

"The player could be a very useful addition and he fits in to our market, with no transfer value attached.

"He has got a slight taint over him with his departure from Sheffield Wednesday, but I have to have a good talk with him and find out if he wants to do it and go on and be the player he should be.

"The challenge is there for him to get fit and show us that we need him."

The weekend tabloids linked the Blues with French frontman Mickael Antoine-Curier. The 22-year-old is currently playing in Norway for Vard Haugesund but had a spell in England between 2001 and 2004, starting his career at Preston and moving on to Nottingham Forest.

Antoine-Curier looks an unlikely Town target having toured the lower leagues after leaving Forest, spending short spells at Brentford, Oldham, Kidderminster, Rochdale, Sheffield Wednesday, Notts County and Grimsby before moving on to Norway in the summer of 2004.
