Nicky: Deano Exceptional - Ipswich Town News

Striker Nicky Forster says fellow frontman Dean Bowditch is an exceptional talent who can go all the way in the game. Forster has been very impressed with the England U19 international since moving to Portman Road in the summer.

Forster told TWTD: "In training he is very sharp, very quick, in behind, likes the ball to feet, lays it off first time; he's an all-round striker with more talent than perhaps I've ever had. He's a really, really top striker.

"The only thing with Deano is that sometimes he finds it difficult to take that into the game situation. There have been periods in games this season when perhaps he hasn't been in the game as much as he would have liked.

"He's still young and finding his feet in football week-in, week-out. But when it comes to ability and how far he can go in the game, he's top class. I think he's an exceptional talent. Sometimes different players mature and are able to perform consistently quicker than others."

Forster says he sees similarities with another highly-rated Football League striker: "I remember when I was at Reading we had a lad who was very hit and miss in Nathan Tyson. In the end he left us and went to Wycombe and, whether it's just that he matured or that he's got a manager who's getting the best out of him, he's really firing on all cylinders, playing well consistently and has been linked with a number of Championship clubs.

"Looking at the raw talent of Deano, I think he's every bit better than someone like Nathan Tyson and can go all the way."

Forster was talking to TWTD for issue 79 of the fanzine which is out ahead of Tuesday's home game with Coventry City. Our sellers will be around the ground prior to kick-off amd subscriptions are available online here: http://www.twtdonline.co.uk.
