Editor Denied - Ipswich Town News

TWTD Editor Phil Ham has failed in an audacious bid to succeed Bryan Hamilton as Norwich City manager. Ham felt that he was the ideal man to take the mantle from Hamilton and continue the excellent work the ex-Town player and manager had only really got started on.

As he told the Norwich chairman in his letter of application: "I was disappointed to see the resignation of Bryan Hamilton, a man who was still at the stage of laying the foundations for the future. I feel I am the man to continue this work."

Sadly City failed to see things the same way and have appointed Nigel Worthington instead. In a move that many will see as out of character Ham's rejection letter revealed that at a meeting of City's board of directors: "It was also decided that for the job of Football Manager, experience within the professional game would be an absolute necessity."

The letter added that the board were: "Carefully considering the way forward for Norwich City Football Club." Something that many Norwich City fans will see as a major change of policy at the ailing Nationwide League Division One club.
