Westy on Way Back - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Ian Westlake is expected to get back into full training on Thursday and hopes to be back in contention for next week's match at Derby County. The 21-year-old injured his ankle in training last month.

Westlake told the club site: "It's been very frustrating, especially at first when I couldn't do anything at all.

"Once the injury settled down I was able to resume swimming which I do every day anyway. Getting back in the pool showed I was moving forward and that was very important.

"I've been spending a good deal of time on the static bike and on the weights as well and obviously I have been working closely with the physios who monitor my progress.

"I set myself the target of being in contention to play against Derby next week but that's very much fingers crossed and I know there is still a lot of work to do."

Fellow midfielder Owen Garvan is expected to be over his ankle injury ahead of Saturday's trip to Brighton, but Kevin Horlock is likely to miss out with the rib problem he picked up in the Coventry match.
