Williams to Extend Stay? - Ipswich Town News

New loan signing Gavin Williams says he is already considering making his move to Portman Road a permanent switch. The Wales international joined the Blues for training for the first time yesterday.

Williams said: "As far as I am concerned, if I am going to leave the Premiership, there is no better club than Ipswich.

"This is an important time for me now, with the transfer window opening in January. I need to get my career moving again.

"I still haven't given up on making it at West Ham - I still have three years on my contract there - but there comes a time when you have to do what's best for yourself and your career.

"Obviously, it would be up to the two clubs and the two managers as to whether anything permanent was going to happen."

The Hammers, who may not be prepared to allow Williams to leave Upton Park for more than a short spell, are likely to want a fee for the 25-year-old, probably a figure somewhere in the region of the £250,000 they paid Yeovil just under a year ago.

The versatile midfielder has made only one appearance for West Ham this season, in the Carling Cup victory at Sheffield Wednesday.
