Chief executive Derek Bowden says the Blues could hear more next week on whether new free signing Vermund Brekke Skard will be able to start playing prior to the transfer window opening. On Friday the Norwegian FA told Skard's former club Brumunddal that they have granted the midfielder permission to begin his career in England.
Town are yet to hear from the English FA regarding the Norwegian decision but Bowden told TWTD that there could soon be developments: "We've had no notification of this from the FA. As of yesterday the answer was no until January, however we may hear something more from the FA next week."
Skard has agreed to sign an 18-month deal with the Blues but as things stood was unable to officially make his move to Town until the transfer window opens in January. Despite being unwaged while with Brumunddal, the 24-year-old was classed as a professional not an amateur due to the Norwegian club paying him travel expenses.
If the FA accept his reclassification as an amateur, Skard would not be subject to transfer window restrictions and could start playing for the Blues with immediate effect.
