Scouts Watch Academy - Ipswich Town News
An England U17 scout watched midfielder Ed Upson and full-back Kurt Robinson in action as Town's U18s lost 2-1 to Southampton at Playford Road on Saturday lunchtime. The pair are on standby for the young England side facing Turkey in a friendly at Notts County's Meadow Lane on December 13th.
Tony Boto scored the Town goal, touching on an Upson shot. Last season's FA Youth Cup final goalscorer was once again the pick of the Town players on show.
Striker or midfielder Liam Barrett made his first appearance of the season for the Academy after undergoing a knee operation in the summer.
Town's U16s lost 2-1 to the same opposition, Jack Ainsley netting for the Blues. Scouts have also been watching the U16 side of late, with Chelsea keeping an eye on striker Jordan Rhodes, son of goalkeeper coach Andy, and midfielder Jai Reason.
