Book Talk Tonight - Ipswich Town News

Waterstone's still have some tickets left for tonight's talk by Brian Scovell on his book Football Gentry: The Cobbold Brothers (6.30pm). The book, one of several Town tomes out for Christmas, is an account of the lives of the club's colourful chairmen during the Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson eras.

Current chairman David Sheepshanks and board member Philip Hope-Cobbold will also be at the event. Entry is by ticket only, £3 redeemable against purchase of the book, available from Waterstone's, 15-19, The Buttermarket, 01473 289044.

There will also be a raffle with 10 copies of the book signed by the guests and Sir Bobby Robson the prizes.

Football Gentry: The Cobbold Brothers, available here, is one of a plethora of Town-related books out ahead of Christmas.

The Old Farm: Ipswich Town v Norwich City - A History is an account of the East Anglian derby by Rob Hadgraft, while Terry Butcher's My Autobiography, Joe Royle's The Autobiography and Sir Bobby Robson's Farewell But Not Goodbye are all still available.

Also published in time for Christmas are stats book Ipswich Town Head to Head by Peter Waring and The Official Ipswich Town Quiz Book by John DT White.

And released conveniently for the pre-Christmas retail stampede is the DVD of Escape to Victory, starring John Wark, Russell Osman, Kevin O'Callaghan and other Town greats. Possibly cinema's greatest moment is available exclusively from HMV and via this link.
