Icelandic keeper Óskar Pétursson was red-carded for a professional foul in the 12th minute as the U18s were thrashed 6-1 at West Ham on Saturday morning. With no glovesman on the bench, full-back Sammy Moore took over in goal. Charlie Sheringham netted for the Blues.
The U16s had a better time of it against the Hammers at Playford Road, drawing 1-1 with Curtly Williams scoring the goal. New Zealand schoolboy Tommy Smith was included in the U16 line-up. The central defender has spent a number of spells with Town and is likely to join the academy full-time in August.
Former Town trainee Matt Bloomfield, now with Wycombe Wanderers, was at the game watching his younger brother Joe in action.
