Assistant manager Willie Donachie felt a draw was a fair result after Town's game with Sheffield United ended 1-1. Donachie took over the post-match duties as Joe Royle is suffering from a bad back.
The former Scotland international said: "It was a fair result but if Danny Haynes had taken his chance when he was clean through we would have gone two up and I think we would have gone on to win.
"It was inexperience that was the cause of his miss, but had he scored it would have settled it. A 1-0 lead is never enough.
"We were not getting there in the first half and there was not enough support for Alan Lee. He has only trained with us for a couple of sessions but, from what I have seen, I think he will do well. We have four possible strikers on the injured list at present so we are stretched."
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock said that Richard Naylor and other Town players had misinterpreted his approach towards the North Stand at the final whistle: "Humour is still in the game. It's people who tend to complicate it. Richard didn't understand the situation and threw out his dummy, but the fans behind the goal were having a good laugh.
"I was delighted with the way we fought back and it was a good point in the end. Our past record at Ipswich has not been brilliant and it is another difficult game out of the way.
"They had a five-man midfield in the first half so there were not many goalmouth incidents. Even so we were a hair's breadth away from scoring two goals and all credit to their defenders who got a toe in.
"We had to dig deep because their goal gave the crowd and their players a lift. We had to show why we are up there second in the table. We have a genuine team although we are not the finished article.
"Danny Webber finished with a pulled hamstring. It's not ripped but we won't know the full extent of the damage until he has had a scan."
Town had no new additions to the injury list, although Nicky Forster is facing exploratory surgery on his troublesome knee.
