Skard in Reserves Squad - Ipswich Town News

Norwegian midfielder Vemund Brekke Skard will make his first appearance in a Town shirt this evening when the reserves take on Fulham at Portman Road (KO 7pm). The game was originally scheduled to be played at Needham Market's Bloomfields but the poor condition of the pitch meant the match was switched back to more familiar territory.

Skard is continuing his recovery from the groin operation he underwent in November, shortly after joining Town on a free transfer from Brumunddal.

Lewis Price is in goal for the second string for the first time this season having lost his place in the senior side to Shane Supple. Scott Mitchell continues his comeback after the ankle injury which has kept him out of action since last summer.

There are likely to be a number of scouts keeping an eye on Dean McDonald, who is interesting Hartlepool, Blackpool and Boston, as well as Cathal Lordan and Kevin Horlock who have been told they can leave the club. Jaime Peters and Dean Bowditch are the other senior players included.

Steve McCall is fielding an unfamiliar side with many reserves regulars rested ahead of Thursday's FA Youth Cup fourth round tie against Liverpool at Anfield. Midfielder Liam Manning, released by the Blues last summer, returns to make up the numbers alongside Newmarket Town defender Darren Coe.

Academy striker Darryl Knights will be on the bench after his ankle injury and could play some role at Anfield.

Reserves: Lewis Price, Scott Mitchell, Luke Webster, Vemund Brekke Skard, Darren Coe, Liam Manning, Jaime Peters, Kevin Horlock, Dean Bowditch, Dean McDonald, Cathal Lordan, Ian Nimmo, Tony Boto, Björn Hermannson, Darryl Knights, Ã"skar Pétursson.
