Burley Quote on Johnson - Ipswich Town News
Further details of the possible deal sending David Johnson to Nottingham Forest are beginning to emerge. Davis Platt was definitely sighted at Portman Road last night and presumably went into talks with David Sheepshanks after the game.
George Burley is being reported as telling a radio station after the game: "I've spoken to David and he wants first team football, but at the moment I can't offer him that. He will decide if he wants to go. If he doesn't want to then we are happy to keep him as he has been a tremendous asset."
Already, with the deal not yet done and dusted, fans are starting to speculate on a replacement for Johnson. Amongst the names cropping up are long-time Town target Neil Harris, transfer saga king Gert Verheyen from Club Brugges and Southampton's Hassan Kachloul, who failed to agree temrs with the Blues at the beginning of the season.
