Parkin Close to Return - Ipswich Town News

Striker Sam Parkin should be back in full training next week after breaking his ankle in November. However, fellow frontman Nicky Forster's recovery from a knee problem is going less smoothly and the former England U21 international could require surgery.

Physio Dave Williams told the club site: "Sam is progressing well and is twisting and turning now without any problems.

"He is probably a week away from full training and then it will be about getting some reserve team football under his belt because he has been out for a long time.

"If all goes well, he could be back playing for the first team by the middle of February."

Williams says that Forster's knee shows no sign of improvement: "It's still sore when he sprints and we will have to take him back to the specialist for another look.

"It's been four weeks now and he's been 80 per cent but no more. It could be that the specialist will want to have a closer look under surgery."

Midfielder Gavin Williams has missed training with a knee injury this week but is expected to be OK to face Leeds on Tuesday evening.
