No Deadline Day Deals - Ipswich Town News

Joe Royle says that Hartlepool's interest in Town striker Dean McDonald has cooled. The final day of the transfer window is expected to pass quietly at Portman Road.

Royle told the club site: "Hartlepool did make a bid for Dean a few weeks back which didn't match our valuation and they will not be pursuing their interest in Dean now.

"It's got nothing to do with the fee. They have players back now from injury and are looking at other areas.

"I've spoken to Dean and his agent and explained the situation. The challenge is there now for the lad to work hard and try and win a new contract at this club."

No players are expected to be on the way to Portman Road after a January which has seen the permanent signings of Alan Lee and Gavin Williams. Dean Bowditch, Aidan Collins (both Wycombe) and Gerard Nash (Hartlepool) have all left Town for loan spells, while Liam Craig made a permanent switch to SPL side Falkirk.

Kevin Horlock had been tipped to make his Portman Road exit after he was told he will not be offered a new deal in the summer. Oldham were priced out of a move for the 33-year-old, while Barnsley made an enquiry but took their interest no further.
