Town are reported to have watched Linfield striker Peter Thompson in action in an Irish Cup tie with Loughall on Saturday. Thompson, 21, is the hottest property in Northern Irish football and was the subject of failed bids from QPR and Scottish League Division Two leaders Gretna during the transfer window.
Barnsley and Derby were also at Windsor Park to keep an eye on the frontman, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract with the Irish Premier League side.
