Westy Out for Season - Ipswich Town News
Midfielder Ian Westlake has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to the ankle injury he sustained in the 1-1 draw with Hull City on Saturday. An x-ray has shown that there is no break but the 22-year-old's ankle is badly sprained.
Boss Joe Royle said: "Ian had an x-ray and while there is no fracture the ankle is very loose and badly swollen.
"The surgeon has not ruled out an operation and has ordered Ian to rest for six to eight weeks, which means his season is over."
Skipper Jim Magilton also missed training earlier today, along with Fabian Wilnis, Jimmy Juan and Owen Garvan. Essex County Cricket Club joined the squad at Playford Road as part of their pre-season programme.
