Reserves Lose to Spurs - Ipswich Town News

Town's reserves lost 3-0 to Spurs at Stevenage Borough's Broadhall Way on Tuesday night. The young Blues side were better than the result suggests with Clive Allen's table-topping Tottenham team netting twice in the final minutes.

Dean Marney put the home side ahead in the 16th minute, Lee Barnard having already had a goal chalked off for offside.

Darryl Knights went close for Town on the half hour, then Chris Casement had a low shot cleared off the line.

In the second half, Liam Trotter looped a header over. The midfielder turned provider later on, but keeper Rob Burch did well to save from Danny Haynes.

Spurs scored twice in the final three minutes, first through Johnnie Jackson and then via Lee Barnard.

Town, watched by boss Joe Royle, did well against a more experienced Tottenham side. Defenders James Krause and Chris Casement were amongst the Blues' best performers.

Reserves: Pétursson, Mitchell, McEveley (Ainsley 75), Skard, Casement, Krause, Peters, Trotter, Haynes, Knights, Leabon (Upson 75). Unused: Short, Webster, Fenn.
