Robson Confirmed Toon Manager - Ipswich Town News
Bobby Robson was today confirmed as manger of Newcastle United. The former Town man was introduced by chairman Freddie Shepherd at a press conference at St James' Park this morning. The man who took Town to FA and UEFA cup success said: "I have got a massive job ahead of me. It's a great challenge and I am up for it. There is no need for panic here."
He added that it was a dream come true for him to manage the club he watched as a boy, a dream which he thought he would never fulfil after turning the job down two years ago. At the time he was at Barcelona and chose to honour his contract there rather than move to Newcastle and Kenny Dalglish got the job.
Robson was welcomed by the Geordie fans and even Alan Shearer.
