Óskar Off in U18s Draw - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18s drew 1-1 at Leicester in an eventful game on Saturday afternoon. Striker Tony Boto netted a 73rd minute equaliser, with the Blues having had Icelandic keeper Óskar Pétursson sent off for a professional foul on 38.

Pétursson saw red for the second time this season after handling the ball outside the area with Leicester attacker Ashley Chambers through on goal.

Town briefly put fellow Icelander Björn Orri Hermannsson between the sticks but the midfielder was soon replaced by Andrew Plummer, who had been subbed out of the U16 game being played simultaneously. The younger academy side consequently fell to a 5-0 defeat.

Leicester's U18s ended the game down to nine men after Liam Norval was sent off and Max Gradel went off injured, the Foxes having made all three of their substitutions.

Town's U15s are taking part in the Nike Premier Cup qualifying competition at Warwick University this week. The winners go through to the global tournament at Manchester United's Carrington training ground in July. Last year the Town youngsters finished second in the Warwick University competition, losing to Arsenal in the final.

U18s: Pétursson, Moore, Robinson (Webster 52), Fenn, Krause, Hermannsson, Boto, Upson, Rhodes (Trotter 61), Reason (Plummer 41), Knights. Unused: Ainsley.
