Højsted on Trial - Ipswich Town News

Faroese midfielder Ingi Højsted is spending two days on trial with the Blues. The 20-year-old has been released by Birmingham City.

The Ex-Arsenal trainee will join-up with Town on Thursday morning and will train at Playford Road until the end of the week.

Højsted's signed for Birmingham at the beginning of this season but has played only 45 minutes of reserve team football in that time and has been told he will not be offered a new contract at the end of the season.

A full international, Højsted joined Arsenal on a free transfer from hometown club B36 Tórshavn in May 2001, leaving Highbury in the summer of 2004 and rejoining his old side. The Londoners fought off interest from PSV and a number of other clubs to secure the signature of the then 15-year-old Højsted.

Injury reportedly prevented the all-action midfield player from making an impact at Arsenal. Højsted, who has also been known to play in defence, is considered the best player to have emerged from the Faroe Islands.
