Beattie Receives Trophy - Ipswich Town News
Kevin Beattie received his replacement 1974 PFA Young Player of the Year award from Town chairman David Sheepshanks yesterday. Beattie was expected to receive the trophy from Mick McGuire of the PFA at last Saturday's game with Stoke but was taken ill.
The original trophy, handed to Beattie by former England manager Don Revie, was lost in a fire during the central defender's spell playing in Norway.
Blood tests since Beattie was taken ill at the weekend have suggested that Town legend may have been suffering from diabetes.
