Casement Wins Youth Gong - Ipswich Town News
Northern Irish central defender Chris Casement was announced as this season's winner of the Dale Roberts Trophy for the Academy Player of the Year at the presentation night on Saturday. As reported by TWTD on Friday, Fabian Wilnis picked up the senior award.
Casement, who is likely to be back in action after his ankle injury in time for next Sunday's game at Plymouth, has made one senior start and three sub appearances since breaking into the first team squad in the final couple of months of the season.
The Northern Ireland U19 international, who was a member of last season's FA Youth Cup-winning side, was recently praised by manager Joe Royle for his development this season: "At the moment Chris Casement is making outstanding progress.
"He was our best player at Tottenham [in the reserves]. He was terrific against people like Andy Reid running at him with the ball."
