Dyer Out of World Cup - Ipswich Town News

Former Blue Kieron Dyer has confirmed that he has no chance of being in England's squad for the World Cup. The midfielder has been plagued by injuries all season.

The Newcastle man said: "Things could be better. I've had some more disappointing news, just of late, that I won't play any more games this season.

"Obviously, that means I'm out of the World Cup but you have to take the ups with the downs.

"I've had plenty of ups, I'm just going through a few downs at the moment."

Town will hope that former striker Darren Bent is included in Sven-Goran Eriksson's party, the Blues set to receive £100,000 for each of Bent's first two competitive appearances for the national side.

Bent has been named Player of the Year at Charlton after scoring 22 goals in all competitions on his return to the Premiership.

Elsewhere, ex-Town defender Wayne Brown won the official Colchester United Player of the Year award.
