Lyall Memorial Today - Ipswich Town News

John Lyall's memorial service takes place at 2pm this afternoon at St Mary-Le-Tower Church, Tower Street after a private family funeral this morning. Lyall, 66, died of a heart attack at his Tattingstone home last month.

A host of footballing figures are expected to attend including Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Trevor Brooking and Terry Venables. Also mourning will be players from his four-year spell in charge at Town including John Wark, Chris Kiwomya, Jason Dozzell and Paul Goddard, while Mauricio Taricco was also planning to travel from his home in Sardinia to pay tribute to the man who brought him into English football in 1994.

Rather than sending flowers, the family have asked for donations to be sent care of Farthing, Singleton and Hastings Donations Account, Deben House, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, IP4 4PW.

All proceeds will go to the grandchildren's football club, Stutton Primary School and the St Mary's Church, Tattingstone restoration project.
