Clarke in Col U Squad - Ipswich Town News

On-loan Town striker Billy Clarke is in Colchester's squad for today's potential promotion clincher at Yeovil. The U's will be elevated to the Championship for the first time in their history if the Glovers don't beat them and if third-placed Brentford win, or if the Bees fail to claim three points.

Clarke, called up to the Ireland U19 squad earlier in the week, has made two starts and four sub appearances in his spell at Layer Road and could start, with another loan player, Spurs' Mark Yeates, ruled out by a shoulder injury.

The U's are skippered by former Town central defender Wayne Brown who swept the club's various player of the year awards earlier in the week. Former Town loan goalkeeper Aidan Davison is also in the squad after a recently suffering from food poisoning. Another ex-Blue Geraint Williams is the Essex club's assistant manager.

Should Phil Parkinson's side join Southend in winning promotion from League One, next season's league clashes with Town will be the first since Sir Alf Ramsey's Blues won Division Three (South) in 1956/57.

Squad: Gerken, Davison, Cousins, Duguid, White, Elokobi, Richards, Brown, Chilvers, Baldwin, Halford, Watson, Danns, Izzet, Ryce-Campbell, Clarke, Vernon, Iwelumo, Thorpe.
