Norwegian midfielder Vemund Brekke Skard said he couldn't believe it when he heard that Joe Royle had left Town yesterday. The former Brumunddal man will be out to impress his new boss in pre-season.

Skard said: "I feel sad. When I heard the news I couldn't believe it. Joe Royle is a very nice man, I like him a lot, and not only because he offered me a contract. He is a good man and I wish him all the best.

"I don't know what my situation will be in the future, it all depends on the new manager. I have one year left of my contract and all I can do is keep on working hard to improve my game and in the first place impress the new manager in pre-season. "
