Abidallah Called Up - Ipswich Town News

Dutch youngster Nabil Abidallah has been called into the senior squad for Saturday's game with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Abidallah's excellent performance against Chelsea's reserves on Wednesday has led to George Burley's call.

Although unlikely to make the bench it will be good experience for the Dutchman to be involved at the higher level. He is expected to play in the FA Youth Cup match on Monday against Crystal Palace and was due to be involved in today's re-arranged Academy game with Watford which has now been postponed.

The Town side at Chelsea isn't likely to see many changes from the Leicester game. Titus Bramble misses out after reaching five bookings for the season (since then he has added another two), but Mark Venus is OK after injury and should slot in on the left of John McGreal at the centre of defence.

Of Town's other players on the way back after injuries Keith Branagan and Wayne Brown may be considered for the bench while Richard Naylor and John Scales are probably still too far away from full-fitness to be included. Full squad later today.

Meanwhile it seems unlikely that new Chelsea signing Mark Bosnich will be included in their line-up. The ex-Manchester United keeper made his last appearance for Alex Ferguson's club in the reserve side watched by George Burley on Tuesday. The Town manager was reportedly looking at some of the United youngsters.
