Calderwood to Talk - Ipswich Town News

Town have confirmed that they have successfully approached Northampton in order to speak to their boss Colin Calderwood regarding the management vacancy at Portman Road. Calderwood took the Cobblers to promotion from League Two during 2005/06.

Club director of communications Terry Baxter told the club site: "Ipswich Town have asked Northampton for permission to speak to Colin Calderwood about the vacant manager's position at Portman Road and that permission has been granted.

"Colin is one of a number of candidates being interviewed for the position."

Calderwood's Northampton side played a passing game as they finished second in League Two behind Carlisle, tending to utilise a three-man backline.

The Cobblers, whose assistant boss is ex-Town striker John Deehan, impressed Colchester followers when they were narrowly defeated 3-2 by the U's in a Football League Trophy (formerly LDV Vans Trophy) tie at Layer Road in November.
