Cobblers on Approach - Ipswich Town News

Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza has revealed that manager Colin Calderwood's contract stipulates that he should be given the opportunity to speak to interested clubs. Town have been given permission to talk to the Cobblers boss regarding the vacant manager's position at Portman Road.

Cardoza said: "It is inevitable, given the number of managerial vacancies there currently are, that clubs will be showing an interest in Colin.

"I can confirm that Ipswich Town have made contact through the correct channels and, as per his contract, Colin has been given permission to talk to them. I expect the matter to be resolved very quickly so we can continue building and planning for our assault on League One.

"We will not enter in to any speculation. We will deal simply with factual information and we will update our supporters as soon as there is anything else to say."

Calderwood is contracted to Northampton until 2008.
