Magilton Charged by FA! - Ipswich Town News

The row which occurred after Andy D'Urso's bizarre penalty award on Saturday could cost Town dear. John McGreal already stands to miss three games, possibly the Worthington Cup Final. Now it has emerged that Jim Magilton is to be reported to the FA for comments made on the way off the field.

The Northern Irishman was seen remonstrating with D'Urso as the players left the field and Wayne Brown had to drag him back from giving the referee the benefit of his opinion close up. However, it seems, that despite the considerable distance between the two, Andy D'Urso had heard enough and has included the incident in his match report.

Magilton recently escaped action from the FA after being charged for an incident during the secind lag of Town's play-off semi-final with Bolton. Magilton was involved with Mike Whitlow, who himself was later sent off, in the preamble to Town's second penalty.

Magilton has admitted shouting at the referee but felt angry at D'Urso's handling of the game: "I told the referee he had turned the game into a shambles. It was never a penalty in a million years and John McGreal did not swear at him. Matt Holland said he didn’t and Matt Holland is the sort of lad who has never told a lie in his life."

Magilton may now face a ban.
