Danns Linked - Ipswich Town News
Town are one of a number of Championship sides being linked with Colchester midfielder Neil Danns. The ex-Blackburn man is out of contract and will leave the U's this summer.
The Blues, Birmingham, Coventry, Norwich, Sunderland and Cardiff are all said to be chasing the 23-year-old whose agent Tony Finnigan revealed will not be at Layer Road next season: "He will be leaving Colchester, that we can confirm.
"The player has had a wonderful time there, when he left Blackburn and Phil Parkinson rang me - we knew that was the place to go as he would become a better player, and that is exactly what has happened.
"There is a great deal of interest - as you would expect for a midfielder who scored 16 goals last season and talks have taken place with interested parties.
"We hope to have something settled for Neil in the coming week or so."
TWTD reported Town interest in Danns in September 2005, the Colchester player having been one of Joe Royle's targets had the Blues won promotion to the Premiership in 2004/05. However, with no manager yet in place, it is unlikely that Town are currently in the hunt for additions to the squad.
