Jim Near Appointments - Ipswich Town News

Town manager Jim Magilton is close to appointing the additional members of his backroom staff. The Northern Irishman says he is keen for the club to improve its sourcing of players ahead of the 2006/07 campaign.

Two appointments are expected to augment Magilton and first team coach Bryan Klug, with assistant manager Willie Donachie and chief scout Colin Suggett having already left the club.

The former skipper outlined what he wants from the additions to the staff: "We're nearly there. The people we appoint must share our vision of how we see the club going forward.

"We want a professional, cohesive unit as a football team but, more importantly at the moment, we want that to apply to our backroom staff.

"I want a backroom team in place that will be prepared to work very, very hard to bring in the right sort of player - the type that befits this club.

"We must find players and I believe they are out there. I'll give you a classic example - Watford defender Jay DeMerit, who came over here from America, played non-league, was picked up by Watford and is now set to play in the Premiership."
