Smith Avoids Prison - Ipswich Town News
Ex-Town academy coach Ian Smith has been sentenced to 250 hours of unpaid work having admitted the theft of nearly £7,000 from former players Matt Bloomfield and Adem Atay. Smith had taken the money to make investments for the players but instead used it to pay gambling debts.
Smith, who left Town in 2004, has undergone psychiatric treatment since committing the offences early in 2005 and has repaid some of the money owed to the duo.
