Reserves at Portman Road - Ipswich Town News
Town have confirmed that the Blues will play all their reserve games at Portman Road next season. TWTD reported earlier this month that Town's second string will compete in the Eastern Division of the Pontin's Holidays Combination League during 2006/07.
Club secretary Sally Webb told the official site: "There will be 18 matches in the division and all our home games will all take place at Portman Road.
"We had the offer from Needham Market of playing some games there but Jim Magilton feels it's important that we play at Portman Road.
"Our groundsman, Alan Ferguson, is also happy with his calendar and the fact that fewer games will be played on the main pitch.
"We intend to play as many games as possible on the Monday or Tuesday, with a 7pm kick-off, but the league is flexible so dates may change during the season.
"We have also been approached by a number of Premiership clubs about the possibility of playing friendlies next season."
The reserves could also take part in a new cup competition which would involve Premiership clubs.
Town's opposition in the Eastern Division of the Pontin's Holidays Combination League will be Norwich City, Southend United, Colchester United, Leyton Orient, Luton Town, MK Dons, Northampton Town, Oxford United and Stevenage Borough.
