Jim Nervous and Excited - Ipswich Town News

New manager Jim Magilton was both nervous and excited as he arrived for the start of pre-season training earlier today. Magilton and chairman David Sheepshanks spoke to the squad prior to fitness coach Simon Thadani beginning the preparations for the 2006/07 season.

The Northern Irishman told the club site: "I was a mixture of excitement and nerves driving in to the training ground.

"I was a touch apprehensive because you are never sure how these things are going to go on your first day, but once I was in I felt totally at home.

"I felt relaxed with the lads and they listened to what the chairman and I had to say and then the hard work started, and it will be hard work. The players will probably be working harder now than they have ever done in their careers."

The squad spent the morning running before ballwork was introduced this afternoon.
