Town Linked to Yeates - Ipswich Town News

Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs linked with a summer move for Tottenham midfielder Mark Yeates. The 21-year-old is expected to leave White Hart Lane despite having a year remaining on his contract after failing to make an impact with the Premiership club.

Yeates, who has made three Premiership appearances in four years, spent last season on loan with Colchester United, having previously had short spells at Brighton and Swindon.

Hull City are reported to be the favourites for former Republic of Ireland U21 international's signature now that the Tigers are managed by Yeates's former Colchester boss Phil Parkinson. The Blues, Norwich City and Southampton are also claimed to be interested in the winger who can also play as a striker.

Meanwhile, former Town keeper Andy Marshall has completed a move to Coventry City, while another ex-Blue, defender Chris Makin, has signed a contract extension with newly promoted Reading.

Striker Shefki Kuqi, who left the Blues for Blackburn last summer, is being linked with a move to join Marshall at the Ricoh Arena. Former keeper Kelvin Davis is reported to be a £1 million target of Crystal Palace.

Charlton chairman Richard Murray says his club is determined not to sell ex-Town striker Darren Bent this summer. The England frontman has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool, Spurs or Newcastle which could net the Blues more than £1 million from a sell-on clause agreed when he joined the Addicks last summer.

Murray said: "Darren is a big part of our plans. It's flattering for him, and for Charlton, but we have no intention of selling him."

Another former Town striker, Mich D'Avray, has been back at the club this week watching pre-season training. D'Avray is currently technical manager at Australian A-League side the Perth Glory.
