Burley Signs Wright - Ipswich Town News
Former Town boss George Burley has signed ex-Blue Jermaine Wright on a two-year deal at Southampton. Wright leaves Leeds on a free transfer.
Wright said: "I am delighted to have signed for Southampton. Initially I just wanted to get a good spell of training under my belt and see what happened, but when the manager told me he was offering me a contract I was only too happy to agree to stay.
"There is a great set-up here, a great stadium and a club that is determined to get back into the Premiership. Hopefully, I can be a part of a successful season here."
Burley signed Wright from Crewe Alexandra for £500,000 in the summer of 1999 during his time as manager of Town. Wright, now 30, spent three months on loan at St Mary's towards the end of last season.
Former Town keeper Richard Wright is also reported to be a summer Burley target.
