Extended Stay for Bertin - Ipswich Town News

French midfielder Alexis Bertin has been handed a second trial with the Blues. However, fellow trialists Eugen Bopp and Colin Healy have been told they will not be asked back to Portman Road, having spent a week training with the Town squad.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site: "Alexis will be coming back here for another week or so and will be going on tour with us to Belgium and Holland.

"He will be involved against Galway on Wednesday as well and we'll see how he does in Ireland, on tour and in training before making a decision on him.

"He's a bit behind the others in terms of fitness, but he has attributes in his game that we don't possess in the squad at the moment.

"He does the ugly side of the game if you like; breaking the play up, just sitting in there as a defensive midfielder."

All three trialists played in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Boston with former Le Havre man Bertin evidently the trialist who most impressed the Town management. Healy has reportedly been offered a deal by SPL side Motherwell.
